2 levels of Mathematics exam: CBSE paper analysis, tips and honest feedbacks

First time ever Central Board of Secondary Education conducted two levels of examination for class X Mathematics on Thursday. While only a small percentage of students appeared for basic mathematics paper, the ones who chose it were quite happy with it.
Overall 32% across India appeared the Basic Mathematics paper while the rest 68% appeared for standard version of examination.
As reiterated by CBSE, students who have selected Basic Mathematics exam during March 2020 Board exams can appear for the Standard Mathematics paper later in July 2020 if they change their mind and pursue the subject in higher classes.
As per feedbacks of students and analysis by teachers, the paper was on the easier side, but some sets were moderately difficult with a few tricky questions. However, most students are confident of scoring over 70 marks out of 100 marks in the examinations.
Theoretical examination that was conducted for 80 marks according to teachers was balanced and an average student can score about 60 marks easily.
What Students Say…
“The standard mathematics paper was quite easy, as some questions were directly based on examples in NCERT books. I am quite happy. There were a few questions, which required more time and understanding due to framing. However, it was comfortable and better than expected for me.”
Yasha Sharma
“Section A of the paper of 20 questions carrying 1 mark each was easy to attempt while section B with questions on geometry and probability were a tough. However, it is expected to have some tough questions, so I am still expecting over 70 marks out of 80 marks.”
Amardeep Singh
“Just one more examination to go and I can go a vacation! I suffer from Mathematics phobia, so I was scared of appearing for the examination. I chose basic mathematics, which was too easy. I am happy that this is the last year, I have to study math.”
Pranay Khatri
“For me section C was easiest and section D, 4 markers were tough. I hope that I did not make too many silly mistakes. Time was sufficient. For me the difficulty level of today's question paper was moderately high. I am hoping that I will score well.”
