The elections for members of Board of Governors of Daly College will be held on 13th December 2020 from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Separate polling stations for 2 (b) (ii) and for 2 (c) ODA (Old Dalian Association) categories were prepared in the campus for voting. In these two categories there are 300 voters and it is expected that 70% of them will cast their votes in the election.
Other ODA members residing outside Indore were sent postal ballots. About 1,940 ballots were sent all across India and 265 ballots were sent outside India. In all, over 2,200 postal ballets were sent.
Some insiders claim that 1,700 ballots have been received with votes.
Many postal ballots have been returned due to incorrect addresses. Some claim that about 300 ballots were returned due to this.
Few voters and candidates had appealed resolving such cases. Election Officer Rajesh Soni also received many such applications, wherein voters had said that their name was missing in the voter’s list.
The issue of returning postal ballots was also discussed in a meeting held recently, but due to lack of consensus among the candidates about their disposal, the Election Officer decided not to accept any request related to these ballots.
Soni said, “Police will allow voters to enter the premises only after seeing the identity cards of the voters coming to the school campus on the election day on Sunday. People have to keep their mobile phones in the car in the parking area. We looked at the polling booths and ramp arrangements and also reviewed the preparations at the counting place.”
Procedure for Voting: screening mandatory
A voter will be screened for Covid-19 symptoms by the hospital staff at the entry 10 the respective polling station. Asymptomatic voter then approaches the staff on duty at preliminary entry point in front of the polling station and reveals his/her name or serial number or ODA number.
After verifying the ID proof, the voter will be issued a slip which contains his serial number (for 2(b)(ii) voters) and ODA number for ODA voters,
The voter will then be guided to a table inside the station where the contact details of the voter will be shown to him/her. Voter shall be prepared for verification of the identity proof again here. In case the voter desires any change, the same will be incorporated and signature and contact number of the voter will be obtained on the list.
The voter will then be issued a Ballot Paper after obtaining his/her signature on the counterfoil of the ballot paper. The staff issuing the ballot paper will keep the voter's slip.
The voter then moves to the polling booth and casts his/her vote and deposits the ballot in the ballot boxes kept for this purpose and exits from the venue through designated exit point(s).
