The chandan tree chopped off at Ralamandal Sanctuary still raises questions on the possibility of such an incident in presence of staff members. As the investigation continues, there is a question being raised on some employees.
There are a handful of employees at Ralamandal, who have been sanctioned at the sanctuary for almost their entire term with the forest department.
There are some employees, who have even been at the sanctuary on different official positions for more than two decades. Some sources claimed the involvement of such employees in allowing the chopping off of the chandan tree.
The case of the chandan tree being chopped off was reported on Friday. The investigation began, but to no results as yet on Saturday.
This chandan tree was not chopped off in some interiors of the sanctuary. It was chopped from the main top where Shikargrah is. Just 250 metres from Shikargarh, the chopped off tree was noted by gyspy driver Vikas Yogi.
Yogi further came down and informed the forest guard, who escalated the news to other officials. The tree looks chopped off and probably stolen in the pictures taken by the driver.
However, officials have not made any comments on it as yet. Another question that raises the doubt on staff of Ralamandal is the position of the tree. The tree was positioned right in front of the restrooms. Since, there is usually a staff appointed there, how is it that someone could chop off a tree inside a protected sanctuary?
“I came to know about the tree being chopped off in the morning from the forest guard, who was informed about it from Yogi,” Pushplata Mourya, forest ranger, said. She added that investigation is still in process.
