Indore city zoo visitors miss wildlife... the wait will continue for long

With the leopard missing, Kamla Nehru Prani Sanghralaya (Indore city zoo) has been closed since last four days.
As city zoo in-charge Dr Uttam Yadav denied the presence of leopard in city zoo at all from day one, now it’s in vain.
Thousands of visitors continue to stand outside the city zoo but have to return.
Visitors have been coming to city zoo still. They waited for a long time for the gate to open.
On Sunday, a group had also strayed inside to celebrate a birthday.
Later, they had to return disappointed. In the case, when information was sought on the matter of opening the zoo to the audience, it is being said to be opened only after the orders of senior officials in view of security.
According to the officials, how long will the search for the leopard go on in the zoo. Even the zoo management does not have clear information about this.
Because of the close-down especially throughout the weekend, city zoo suffered a loss of more than Rs 6 lakh.
“Thousands of visitors come here every day on normal days and this goes up on weekend,” Yadav said. With so many visitors coming to see the wild animals, city zoo earns a profit that helps in taking care of animals.
“However, we have not even been able to have the usual day revenue for four days, so that brings up our maintenance cost and brings loss,” Yadav said.
He added that the zoo management has suffered a loss of Rs 6 lakh even if footfall is counted for a normal day.
However, nobody can estimate now, when the situation will be normal. Even the officials are unsure and anxious.
Yadav said that every day about 4,500 visitors come to the zoo. “This includes children and adults, who have to pay an entry fee,” he said.
The entry for each person is Rs 20. “At present, the visitors are closed here from 2nd December. In this, its number is more than 22 thousand till Sunday. Due to this, we have suffered a loss of Rs 6 lakh,” Yadav said.
"More than 4,500 tourists come daily, on Sunday more than 15 thousand people come," Yadav said.
