First Cheating Incident in 12th Board Exams at Sharda Kanya School
The ongoing 12th board exams of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE)saw its first cheating incident on Tuesday in the city. A student, appearing for the Physics exam, was caught using cheating materials at Sharda Kanya High School, one of the designated examination centers. The student, a pupil from Parshwanath School in Baghlinga, was caught red-handed by the exam supervisor and assistant center head during the examination.
The incident unfolded shortly after the exam began. The supervisor, acting on suspicion, called the student for a search. Upon inspecting the student, cheating materials related to the Physics paper were found. The concerned center head was immediately informed, and the necessary process of registering a cheating case (UFM case) was initiated. In line with examination rules, the student’s original answer sheet and the confiscated cheating materials were seized, and the student was provided with a new answer sheet.
However, before he could take the new sheet, the student, under the pretense of needing to go to the washroom, left the examination hall and fled the school premises. Despite efforts to prevent cheating through strict measures, this student managed to escape, further raising concerns about the enforcement of exam discipline.
This year, MPBSE has taken extra steps to prevent cheating by assigning most of the examination centers to government schools. The authorities are also using flying squads for random inspections at various centers. ADPC Narendra Jain confirmed that the flying squads are actively working to ensure that cheating is kept under control. “On Thursday, a student was caught cheating during the Physics exam at Sharda Kanya School, and the necessary action has been taken as per the regulations,” he stated.
