Across the city, girls stepped into their higher secondary outcomes with formidable scores, crystalline goals, and a sustained performance that began reshaping the very architecture of educational progress at the grassroots level.
The Context
The 2011 Census recorded female literacy at a mere 59.2%, trailing behind the 78.7% literacy rate for males. Historically, girls remained the most vulnerable to dropouts at the secondary level. This year, that narrative changed.
The daughters of drivers, labourers, tailors, painters, and factory workers did not just survive the system; they mastered it. In the classrooms of Sandipani Ahilya Ashram Girls Higher Secondary School No. 1, these young women stopped waiting for change. They became the ones producing it.
