International Student Exchange in India: A Transformative Journey at DPS Rau
Delhi Public School (DPS), Rau, marked an emotional milestone as it bid farewell to Evaluna Marchan, a year-long exchange student from Italy, under the AFS Intercultural Programmes.
The farewell ceremony signified the successful completion of the school’s first-ever long-term international exchange programme. More than a formal send-off, the event reflected a year of shared experiences, cultural learning, and meaningful connections between students, teachers, and families.
Bringing Global Education to DPS Rau
Evaluna, who stayed in India from July 2025 to May 2026, became an integral part of the DPS Rau community. Over the months, she actively participated in academics, school activities, and cultural celebrations, embracing Indian traditions, food, languages, and values.
Teachers and students described her journey as one of mutual learning. While she adapted to life in India, the school community also gained insights into global perspectives, making the exchange a two-way cultural experience.
Cultural Immersion: Learning Beyond Borders
The farewell event saw heartfelt reflections from peers, educators, and host families, many of whom highlighted the friendships and memories built over the year. The programme also underscored the importance of experiential learning beyond classrooms.
School principal Asha Nair termed the initiative a significant step towards strengthening DPS Rau’s global outlook and promoting intercultural understanding among students.
The Lasting Impact of This Exchange
