Like most Indian girls, even Deepa Thakur grew up under the cocoon of her parent's protection, but things changed when her father departed the world. She transformed her struggle into a pleasure as she cheered up taking it as an opportunity. Meet a beautiful, strong-willed woman, who makes life smile as she hops on stairs.

Fighting poverty, polio and society, 30-year-old Deepa Thakur is an inspiration to everyone, who meets her. While most people lose their breath after climbing four flights of stairs, she hops up these stairs everyday to reach her office.
“Being alive is not our choice, but rest everything is our choice,” Thakur said. She said that she made a choice to be independent and happy, which everyone else can make too. “I have had polio since birth, and there is nothing I can about it,” she said.
She elaborated that polio is a part of her life, not her life. “I drive a tricycle instead of a bike to my office, but like everyone I drive and work,” Thakur said humbly.
After her father passed away in 2010, she decided to head for job hunt. “I did not want my mother to work and I always wanted to work,” she said. However, it was not easy to get a job.
“I had completed bachelors of commerce but because of my disability, everything looked like struggle at first,” Thakur said. Instead of fearing the struggle, she became determined to counter it. “Eventually, I found a job as a receptionist, then I found a job in customer care department and now, I can pay off our bills,” she said.
