Celebrate whatever you get, move on

Laughing her way through mishaps, 43-year-old dietitian Dr Preeti Shukla has handled all her problems with faith, acceptance and optimism. From being a wonderful mother to becoming a registered dietitian and national topper of the examination are some feathers in her cap.
Humbly accepting her achievements along with mishaps in her life, Preeti makes her mark as an inspiring woman of substance. Sharing her story, she talked about every incident in her life as adventure in the pursuit of happiness.
“I was born in Kota, Rajasthan where becoming doctor or an engineer were the only streams considered as proper professions,” Preeti said. Inclined towards medical sciences, she attempted pre-medical test but failed to clear.
“I was not good at physics, but my interest was people and making them well,” Preeti said. Keeping her interest intact, she became a dietitian.
“I got married at 19 and moved to Indore,” Preeti shared. Her in-laws supported her ambitions and encouraged her to continue her education.
“I was third topper in DAVV university during my graduation, it was truly an achievement and sign that I had chosen the right field for my future,” Preeti said. She took a break after graduation to nurse her daughter Anushka.
“I completed masters in nutrition and food with flying colours,” Preeti said. After nursing her son Pranav, she took up a part-time job as a home science teacher.
Sharing the incident that toppled her perfect life, Preeti said, “Pranav was two-year-old when he fell in the rain water harvesting pit.” She lost her son in the mishap that left her shattered.
“I was disheartened and hopeless, but my husband (Ashish) and I joined meditation classes,” Preeti said. Overcoming loss and pain, she continued meditation classes for three years and studied for Phd.

“I completed Phd and somehow studying helped me regain my confidence,” Preeti said. Struggling to have another baby, she took up a job as consultant dietitian in renowned hospital.
“While healing patients and helping them stand up again, I felt a part of me healing,” Preeti said. She helped more than 6,000 patients in recovering through surgeries with right nutrition.
“I had to wait for seven years for having my son Aarav, but it was worth it,” Preeti said. She feels grateful for a blissful life despite its lows.
“Life is an adventure with blessings every day, I am blessed and love to spread my blessings,” Preeti quoted.
