Childhood… it is one of the truly wonderful time for anyone’s
life. India has a wonderful blend of variety of people. On one end, there is a
sight of children who refuse to care about their clothes or belongings, as long
as they get to live and explore life. These children are taught to contribute
to the household chores, which is taken quite as a task in many western
countries.
On the other glance, there is a class of growing children,
who are blessed with the finest things in life. However, they quickly learn the
art of competition followed by ego. Though they are quite content, but limited
to their specific way of lifestyle.
In a walk down the road, both the children played on
different sides. As expected, the fashion forwards were enjoying their time
with smart gadgets, competitions or absolute green grass to avoid dust. The
other side soaked in dust and pleasures of freedom to act any way they like.
While there is nothing wrong with either faces of childhood,
there could an addition to the experience of the childhood by exploring more of
life. To be honest, it could be for everyone, not just children.
Well, this lesson comes with experience from an inspiring
soul, who not only feels that way but makes it happen. Bridging the gap and
helping both the children cross over, Deepak Sharma, founder of Create Stories
(Social Welfare Society) has some innovative ways to change the world one step
at a time.

Joyful Bag: Khushyion Ka Basta
Oh… I remember the long ago, when I actually heard my mother
calling out to pick my ‘basta’. We might have transformed ourselves to leave
away those simple terminologies, but connecting back not only heals, but it
enlightens our soul.
From my experience, the drive to provide bags to
underprivileged children run by Deepak Sharma is so much more. I remember the
first letter he showed me written by class III student inserted in the bag to
make it joyful… There are no words to describe the magic in those innocent
words.
Where some little ones could not read the letter, it was a
site from a fairytale, where Deepak Sharma sat down with the kids’, reading
them these letters. Some wondered about their well-wishers, some wished to
write many such letters and some took inspiration.
While on his drive to distribute bags recently, when I
joined him… I noticed how the faces of the little children lit up at the sight
of these refurbished bags. I could never imagine a bag bringing so much
happiness to anyone.
To these lovely children, I pray every child gets to celebrate
these moments of joy like you do.
