It is this obsession with perfection that is leading us into a world of copy-paste art, make-up faces, malnutrition, weakened souls and what not. On this mother’s day, I doubt if anyone would prefer to have a model-like mother and only then find her beautiful.
In fact, I doubt if one could see the beauty of mother behind all the make-up, self-obsessed routines and crazy paranoia about looks. For all those who have been lucky enough to spend time a decade back in rural areas of the country, they must have noticed simple forms of art.
From colourful rangolis, traditional wall-art to simply and comfortably dressed women and hard-working men, they were common sites. I cannot say how long we will be able to hold back this joy even in rural areas.
We are having perfection today, but lacking love and more. When we talk about art, every art school is busy teaching tracing and perfecting a painting as a photograph. Why not just click and print a photograph instead?
Not that even that is not happening. Even that is common art. However, the art which could take you to a different world, spark a beautiful melody that soul could sing upon is rare and probably endangered by the disease called ‘perfection’.
No, I do not mean that someone is a born artist and every parent who decides to promote their child for spilling colours vaguely on a canvas is doing a fair job either. Art is the true expression of life that connects us to reality filled with imperfections but more importantly, showing beauty, sharing love and enrolling times for ages to come.
Oh goodness! How grateful I am to still have ounces of imperfection around me! I pray to leave this great aspiring world before it turns perfect and we lose the life in living.
