A 5-day short-term training program on ‘Assessment & Evaluation under Outcome Based Education’ was organised in a local school by National Institute of Technical Teacher Training and Research Kolkata. The program concluded on Saturday, when teachers revised their lessons and techniques in discussion with trainer.
About 50 teachers from private schools attended the training program to upgrade themselves. The aim of the training was to impart various methods and tools of assessment and evaluation to attain the outcome.
The coordinator and speaker of the training program Dr Urmila Kar noted following important pointers for teachers on the concluding day:
4 C’s of Outcome Based Education (OBE)
• Critical Thinking
• Communication
• Collaboration
• Creativity
What does OBE address?
• What do we want the students to have or able to do?
• How can we best help students achieve it?
• How will we know whether they have achieved it?
What does OBE emphasis on?
• Stating what we want our students to be able to do at the end of the programme.
• Designing Learning-Teaching processes to facilitate students to do what they are expected to do.
• Assessing the students whether they are able to do what they are expected to do
