Students admitted under Right to Education (RTE) Act are struggling as the new session as already begun and the school, where they were admitted suddenly shutdown. RTE allotment for the session 2019-20 concluded last week.
A group of parents approached district collector Lokesh Jatav with their problem on Thursday and submitted a memorandum. The memorandum stated the problem faced by parents after Diamond Higher Secondary School, Rajmohalla suddenly closed without any prior notice to them.
The memorandum said, “Students admitted under the Right to Education Act are facing a crisis as the admitted school suddenly closed.”
Citing the rule, the parents stated that children’s education should not be affected by closure of school and they should get admission under the act. Parents seek admission under the act in another private school, so that children do not miss out a year.
A group of 15 parents signed the memorandum that noted the problem faced by parents. “It is already so difficult to get admission through RTE, and this sudden shutdown of school risks the future of our children studying in the school,” parent Kanta Wankhede said.
She quoted that school had not pre-informed about the shutdown. “At this point, when all the schools have already taken admission and even the RTE process is complete, we cannot get children admitted in any school,” parent Maya Niwade said.
Worried about the future of her ward, parent Nirmala Khasdse talked about the act and educational rights. “Our children are smart and interested in studies, how can we suddenly deny them their right, because the school decided to close abruptly?” She added that school administration has not been responding to their calls or messages.
“We have no other option because school administration is not ready to communicate with us,” Nirmala said.
Jatav assured the parents that the closure of school will not affect the academic session of the children. He added that a solution would be worked upon by the administration.
