Many private schools in the city are charging full-month bus fee, mess charges and school fee for June, where the schools re-opened from June 24 and will have five to six working days only.
Parents of children studying in various private schools have already come together under the banner of association to discuss the issue. During discussions, it was noted that maximum private schools are charging bus fee for the entire month of June.
Some schools are also charging school fee and tuition fee for the vacation month (May). However, barely any school pays teachers for the month. Majorly, the issue of school buses was raised by all the parents in their complaints sent to the association.
Raising the complaint of school buses charging for the entire month of June where schools are running for less than a week, parent association approached district education officer Rajendra Makhwani.
On hearing the complaint, Makhwani said that no action was possible by the department as it concerns buses. He suggested them to approach regional transport officer (RTO) Jitendra Raghuvanshi.
When approached, Raghuvanshi also did not take an action since school bus fee does not come under the department. With no other means left, the association approached district collector Lokesh Jatav.
Since the issue of school bus fee does not directly come under either education or transport department, Jatav asked the association to submit a written complaint and follow the process. He assured the association that a solution will be found with involvement of both education and transport department.
Transparent fee system
The process is long, but if we are able to come to a solution then it would be relief to thousands and lakhs of parents in the city. We need an honest and transparent fee system that is uniform. We are just trying to facilitate the process and control the unwarranted fees that parents are forced to pay.

Make education accessible and affordable
Schools should not run with the idea of earning profits and building business. However, most schools are adding unnecessary charges on parents making education unaffordable for most children. We need to revise the system and set a uniform charging system.

Staff, teachers, conductors and drivers paid for the entire month
Even if a child attends school for a couple of days, teachers, conductors, drivers and staff has to be paid for the entire month. For example, for the month of June, teachers and all the other staff is paid for the entire month and not just the working days. This is the reason why many schools might be charging fee for the entire month. Fee is generally not charged for the vacation month of May.
