Taxathon Indore

The Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Indore successfully organized Taxathon- a 5 km walk on Sunday, as one of the activities to celebrate the 159th foundation day of Income Tax, which falls on 24th July every year.
Justice SC Sharma graced the occasion as the chief guest and flagged off the event, while other dignitaries included AK Chauhan, IRS, Pr. Chief Commissioner of IT, MP & CG; DP Haokip, IRS, Chief Commissioner of IT, Indore; and Lokesh Jatav, Collector Indore.

The idea behind the event was to promote a voluntary tax culture and spread awareness about the role of taxpayers in nation building activities, aptly summarised by the event theme "Aaykardata Rashtra Nirmata".
Despite inclement weather and heavy rains, the event witnessed the active and enthusiastic participation of more than 1000 walkers from all walks of life, and was supported by the Academy of Indore Marathoners.
Indore’s taxpayers excitedly took photos and selfies at the various photo points, including the most popular point which said “Proud to be a Taxpayer”.
In pursuance of the Department’s deep commitment towards the cause of the environment, 1000 plants were distributed to the participants as contribution towards a Green Indore.
In honour of Indore’s exalted status as India’s cleanest city, it was ensured that no disposable plastic items were used during the event at any stage.
Traffic arrangements were coordinated with Indore Police meticulously to ensure that residents of the city faced no inconvenience while commuting.
