Baby Jesus on Banana themed card for Christmas


Following the ‘Green and Clean Christmas’ theme for celebrations this year, baby Jesus Christ on a banana leaf was featured in the Christmas card released by Bishop Chacko SVD, the bishop of Indore Catholic diocese on Monday.
Addressing a press conference at Bishop’s House, Red Church Indore, Bishop said, “Jesus came to this world with a message of peace to all mankind, also calls us to share this peace with one another when there is lot of violence and hatred was spread all around us.”
He added that Christmas is a festival of joy, peace and hope as it is the birth of Jesus Christ. “God takes the form of human person in Jesus Christ and takes birth in a manger, showing us a sign of utter poverty,” Bishop said.
He explained God gives us hope that no matter how miserable the life is. “There is a God near us who lives by us. If we follow him, he brings peace and happiness in our life,” Bishop said.
President of Indore Christian Media Forum Fr John Paul SVD said, “It is our responsibility to take care of the earth and all human beings, as they are the best creation of God.”
After giving Christmas message, Bishop released a Christmas card which greets every one the joy and peace of Christmas and appeals to all for a ‘Green and Clean’ Christmas. He invited everyone to take care of the nature and the environment as it is the best gift of God to all of us.
School students in their colorful dresses, sang beautiful Christmas songs and created a right ambience for Christmas. After the address, the entire community gathered for celebrations and fellowship meal.
On the eve of Christmas i.e. December 24, the celebrations will begin from midnight. Midnight Mass and giving and receiving of presents would be the major festivities.
