Essential to train CBSE principals, IIMs preparing short term courses

Not just students and teachers, it is essential to train school principals and vice-principals due to their challenging leadership roles, explained Central Board of Secondary Education, as it announced training of CBSE Principals and Vice Principals through Short Term Courses from IIMs (Indian Institute of Management).
The announcement from the office of senior PRO of CBSE stated, “The school principals, being the administrative and academic head of schools, have a challenging leadership role and need continuous training and platform for exchange of ideas and practices. The Board thus organises Leadership Training Programmes for principals.”
It added that this is among several measures taken by the board to address issues concerning the quality of education in its affiliated schools. The Board organizes trainings of teachers through its regional training centres in various subjects and other core skills related to school education.
The Board is collaborating with institutes such as Indian Institute of Management, Indian Institute of Technology and other similar institutes to organize professional development programmes for its principals and teachers.
Further, CBSE requested IIMs to keep a reasonable fee for such programmes to facilitate participation of both well-resourced schools as well to schools situated in remote areas/ most educationally backward sectors of the country.
The program focuses on the multiple roles and responsibilities. It provides space to examine issues that most principals face today, and facilitate evolving a tactical response for a better future adaptability of schools.
Some of the learning outcomes of such trainings enable principals for the following:-
Preparation of pedagogical plans
Train teachers to track progress of students on learning goal/outcome and implement competency based education
Lead teachers in assessing and improving lesson plans and instructional designs by incorporating 21st Century skills
Collect and use data to oversee the organization and resources•  Address interest and needs of staff, students and other stakeholders
Implement policies of various governing bodies and respond effectively to changes• that impact the schools.
Model democratic value systems, Team Building, and Growth of traits•  Motivate teachers for academic excellence and happiness
Suitably providing a safe and fulfilling environment
Manage innovations in schools through project planning, systems management, promoting ICT use.
