The icy winds take over as Indore recorded the coldest night of the season on Friday. The minimum temperature recorded in Indore was just about 1 degree below normal. The temperature fell by 3.6 degree in 24 hours making the dip feel cooler to residents.
People were forced to wrap themselves under woollens and also lit bonfires to ward off chilly condition.
As per met department officials, the temperature is likely to dip further and Indore is likely to experience a colder night on Dec 31, as we dive into 2020.
The minimum temperature took a dip in the entire state with coldest night recorded in Gwalior in state. Minimum temperature recorded in Gwalior was 3.3 degree Celsius.
Indore had by far the warmest night when compared with other cities in the state as it recorded the highest minimum temperature in state of 9.4 degree Celsius. On the other hand, the day in Indore remained cooler than most other cities.
The maximum temperature recorded in Indore was 20.4 degree Celsius. In comparison to Hosangabad, Dhar, Khargone and even Bhopal, it was lower. The day temperature was 6 degrees below normal with 1 degree fall in 24 hours.
Officials said that the chill condition, which is prevailing in the city, in the result of cold winds coming from the North. They further said that the city would experience similar condition for next few days but the temperature may increase by few degrees Celsius.
“One of the reason for falling temperature in night is also fall in humidity, which allows icy cold winds to blow easily in the city,” the official said.
