CBSE Class X Board Examination 2019-20: Social Science; how to prepare and score well; tips & tricks
The combination of various subjects and
topics in ‘Social Science’ provides students a comprehensive view of society
over space and time, and in relation to each other. However, attempting the
examination for all the four major subjects with their sub-topics can be
daunting.
Letting go off their fear, students must
get rid of myths about social science and attempt the subject as a learning of
their surroundings.
Guiding on how students can learn the various
subjects for board examinations, Social Science teacher Manpreet Saluja
suggested the following strategy:
Subjects included in Social Science
Social Science curriculum draws its content
mainly from History, Geography, Political Science and Economics. Some elements
of Sociology and Commerce are also included.
Examination pattern for Social Science
MCQs (multiple choice questions): 20
questions of 1 mark each=20
Short answer type questions: 8 questions of
3 marks each =24
Long answer type questions: 6 questions of 5
marks each =30
Map work: 2 questions of 3 marks each = 6
Total marks of theoretical examination = 80
Handling MCQs means learning details
Board Exams are the decisive factor for the
most of future endeavour. The students pursuing for class X board examination
this year have to face a great challenge because of the changed pattern of
question paper.
It can be challenging for students to score
in social science examination if their trick is to cram up answers. The changed
board pattern with 20 marks objective (assertion/reason, picture reading, MCQs correct
the statement, etc.) makes it essential for students to be meticulous with
dates, pictures and names.
Preparation Strategy to score well

Thorough
reading of chapters would help you gain confidence on the subject. Keep
underling facts and figures while reading.

Whenever
you go through a chapter, prepare short notes at the corner of the same, so
that it would be a great source for you at the time of revision.

Only
cramming the content would not solve the purpose; understanding of the concept is very important to solve questions.
·
Identify
difficult topics and try doing them first, for learning dates and events in
history you can make mnemonics and for learning places in geography acronyms
can be made.

Practice map skills on daily
basis mark 5 places everyday and learn by the end it would be done before the
