Five-day Akhand Kirtan Festival by International Akhand Kirtani Jatha, established in 1903 by freedom fighter and Paramhans Gurupurwasi Bhai Randhir Singh.


The five-day Akhand Kirtan Festival began at Imli Sahib Gurudwara from Thursday evening. The festival has been organised by International Akhand Kirtani Jatha, established in 1903 by freedom fighter and Paramhans Gurupurwasi Bhai Randhir Singh.
More than 15 kirtanakars will take part in these kirtan diwans, and more than 200 companions have come to Indore for this special festival.
There will be 8 Kirtan Diwan in all during the five-day fest. There will also be Amrit vani, which is a religious discourse.
Chief Convener of Akhand Kirtan Jathe Ratinder Singh and general secretary of Shri Guru Singh Sabha Jasbir Singh Gandhi said, “Akhand path is continuous recitation (without any break) of sacred religious texts in Guru Granth Sahib. The Akhand Path originated in India in the mid 18th century, when there were few copies of the Guru Granth Sahib. Sikhs were at war and hid in the jungles. They gathered round to hear readings from the sacred text before the text was moved on to be read to other groups of Sikhs.”
Camp for women & children
Special Dastar Sikhlai Camp will be organized at Guru Ramdas Sahib Sarai Gurdwara Imli Sahib on January 25 from 2:30 pm to 5 pm for women and children. A special Gurmati quiz for children will be held on the same day at Imli Sahib Gurudwara.
