Indore to celebrate Basant Panchami on Thursday with ‘mahayagya’

Indore will celebrate Basant Panchami on Thursday, i.e. Jan 30 marking the transition of winter into spring, and subsequently summer. The significance of the colour 'yellow' is immense on this day, as the yellow flowers of the mustard crop are said to bloom on this very day. The yellow colour also signifies the arrival of spring and is associated with the feelings of positivity in life and nature.
Basant Panchami is celebrated every year on the fifth day of Maagh, as per the Hindu calendar. The festival usually falls in the month of February or March. In 2020, the festival of Basant Panchami is on January 30, but some places it will be celebrated on January 29.
In Indore, grand celebrations will be seen in Saraswati temples and educational institutes.
The committee of Tulsi Nagar Saraswati Puja including Rajesh Tomar, KK Jha, Sanjay Yadav, Vivek Sharma, Bhagwan Jha, Shiv Bahadur Singh, and Shambhunath have organised grand celebrations with mahayagya, mahaprasadi, maha-aarti and offering of 56 bhogs to the goddess.
