19-day-long Pran Pratishtha Festival: Largest idol of lord Hanuman to be installed, costing over Rs 10 crore

Over a lakh women gathered at Pitru Parvat for the procession on of Pran Pratishtha Festival of the statue of lord Hanuman weighing 108 tons on Monday. Prana pratistha refers to the rite or ceremony by which a murti is consecrated in a Hindu temple, wherein hymns and mantra are recited to invite the deity to be resident guest, and the idol's eye is opened for the first time.
Women carried urns on their head and took out a 7 kilometre long procession from Shri Shri Vidyadham to Shree Pitreshwar Dham.
Devotees sang bhajans and chanted Hanuman Chalisa. People from different age groups joined the procession, wherein different bhajan groups sang devotional songs.
125 artisans gave shape to 66 feet statue in seven years
The 66 feet tall idol of lord Hanuman was made by 125 artisans in Gwalior. It was built in 264 parts in seven years. It took about two years to connect these parts. The weight of the statue is about 108 tons. The length of the mace is 45 feet. It cost about ten crore rupees to build the idol. A special coating on the idol will protect it in harsh weather conditions. The umbrella above the head of idol of Hanuman is 18 feet wide. On this umbrella, ‘Ram’ has been written 108 times.
For the installation of the idol, a platform of 121 by 121 feet was built. The platform is 14 feet high. The idol is painted using 150 kg of 99 carat acrylic golden paint. The paint was imported from France, for the first time for an idol in the country.
Further, the idol will be visible in the dark as it will light up with laser beams.
Bhajans & Mahayagya
Uttam Swami Maharaj sang and explained Ram Katha. Kanakeshwari Devi sang and retold Shiva Purana Katha.
Saints from Haridwar, Nashik, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Ayodhya also joined the event and will be giving lectures and sharing lessons throughout the fest.
Further, nine-day Mahayagya is also being organised as a part of the festival.
Getting rid of Pita Dosh
BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya organised the event. “Indore was suffering from ‘Pitra Dosh’ (ancestors’ curse) which was hampering its development and the large idol of Lord Hanuman is being installed at Pitra Parvat to get rid of the same,” he said.
Vijaywargia added that about 13 years back, construction of the temple was started. “Prayers are being offered to Pitra (ancestors) here for more than a decade and trees are planted in their memory at Pitra Parvat to get rid of this dosh (curse),”Vijaywargia said.
MLA Ramesh Mendola said that a large number of devotees attended the event along with bhajan circles. The procession was welcomed at 50 different points.
