Operation of all public passenger buses in the state has
been prohibited from Monday till March 31. The restriction has been imposed
under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, to prevent the spread of
Corona Virus across the state.
World Health Organization (WHO) had declared Corona Virus
(COVID-19) as a global pandemic and following which, Madhya Pradesh Health
Notification under Section 50 and 51 of the Madhya Pradesh Health Act 1949
notified COVID-19 as contagious disease.
“The spread of COVID-19 is rapid and communicable, and in
some of the districts of Madhya Pradesh, people suffering from the infection
have been confirmed,” the notice said.
In such a situation, the restriction has been imposed under
Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, till 12 pm on March 31. Operation
of all public passenger vehicles in the public interest has been prohibited in
the entire state.
Under the orders, operation of public vehicle including auto
rickshaws, buses, electric auto, Tata magic, taxi, cabs, and any other public
vehicles is prohibited. Hence, city buses, i-buses, sewa sutra, electric buses,
sky buses and other public buses run by AiCTSL have been shut down.
This order is not be applicable to private vehicles used for
private commute, essential emergency services or vehicles attached to
government duty.
No inter-state buses till March 31
Divisional Commissioner Akash Tripathi instructed all the
collectors of Indore division to keep the inter-state bus transportation
postponed till March 31, 2020 with immediate effect in view of the prevention
of corona virus. Operation of inter-state buses to Maharashtra, Rajasthan and
Chhattisgarh has been prohibited.
