Lockdown 4.0: SGSITS bids farewell to Prof Siddharth Soni


As lockdown 4.0 is about to end, Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science is gearing up for the upcoming academic session and bringing everything in place for their passing out batch.
With the lockdown 4.0, for the first time ever a senior professor is retiring from his services. Prof Siddharth Soni after serving SGSITS for almost 43 years retired from his services.
He started his career in August 1977 as Research Associate in the Projects sponsored by ISRO and reached to the post of Professor in 1989.
He served the institute as:
·        Director (In absence of Permanent Director)
·        Senior Most Professor of the institute (Since Nov 2019)
·        Dean Research & Development.
·        Head, department of Civil Engineering & Applied Mechanics
·        Coordinator Technical Education & Quality Improvement Programme A World Bank Project.
·        Controller of Exams.
At present He was Coordinator Centre for Remote Sensing & Satellite Technology and Professor In-Charge TEQIP Cell.
Prof Soni served as Expert member for:
Department for Science and Technology
National Board for Technical Education, New Delhi
All India Council for Technical Education New Delhi
National Project Implementation Unit MHRD New Delhi
MP Council for Sc & Tech.Bhopal.
Prof Soni carried out 15 Research projects sponsored by ISRO; Dst; MAPCOST; National Bureau of Soil Survey & land Use Planning, New Delhi; NVDA Bhopal; Department of Forestry; and Indore Municipal Corporation.
Prof Soni published over 75 Research papers in Journals, Conferences and Memoirs. He participated in various capacities at National and International level.
Prof Soni is also recipient of UNESCO (ROSTSCA) YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD 1988.
He was also honoured by ISRO for his contribution in ISRO's outreach programme as Best Paper Award.
Prof Soni was also a member for Indian delegation for Natural Disaster management set up by Govt of India after Bhuj Earth quake.Member pf the delegation set up MHRD NEW DELHI and visited National University of Singapore.
Prof Soni was also Consortium Advisory Committee member for the project sponsored By NAIP -A WORLD BANK UNIT to IIT Delhi, International Agency for Bamboo and Rattan USSR.
