Schools have been shut down since the outbreak of coronavirus in India and are less likely to open any time soon. Hence, to assess student’s learning and understanding of subjects, online internal assessments will be conducted for classes 9th to 12th in this academic year.
Joint director, school education department (Indore) Manish Verma noting the instructions from commissioner, state education department Lokesh Jatav asked district education officers (DEOs) to prepare for online assessments.
“All the teachers must continue teaching online and ensure proper understanding among students, further, as we will be conducting online assessments all the requisite preparations like setting the assessment paper must be completed in stipulated time,” Verma said in the letter.
Evaluation will be based on open book method
As per instructions from MPBSE given to DEOs through a video conferencing, the online internal assessment will be based on open book method. An "open book examination" is that in which students are allowed to refer to either class notes and summaries or a “memory aid”, textbooks, or other approved material while answering questions.
MPBSE will send question papers to students on mobile. Students will have to answer all the questions in the paper in fixed time and submit it to the answer sheet school.
School teachers will send the result of the student through the mobile app in the board's website after checking the answer sheet.
Online new session will start from September 1
This time the board is going to start the new online academic session from September 1, 2020. Hence, the course has to be finished within six months.
This time due to coronavirus outspread, schools have been shut since March. Since the attack of coronavirus continues, it is not possible to open the schools at the moment.
Hence, online classes will be the new norm for now. At the same time, in order to reduce the burden of students, other boards including UP, CBSE have reduced the syllabus of 10th - 12th by 30%.
