Amidst strict COVID 19 guidelines, thousands of people of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and eastern India living in various parts of the city and adjoining regions offer `arghya’ to the setting Sun on Friday on the third day of Chhath Mahaparv.
The 36-hours fast of Chhath devotees commenced in the city from Thursday with `kharna’. Devotees with their families immersed in religious fervour with dress up, worship and celebrations.
The 36-hour fast had begun after consuming special prasad of jaggery `kheer’, wheat flour rotis on earthen chulha.
Unlike last year, the entire community is refraining from get-together and grand celebrations. Devotees offered ‘arghya’ to the Sun God in an artificial, makeshift water bodies in view of the COVID 19 pandemic.
State President of the Poorvottar Sanskritik Sanstha, Thakur Jagdish Singh, General Secretary, K K Jha said “The four-day Chatth festival will conclude on Saturday with the offering of `arghya’ to the rising Sun God.”
