Bird flu spreads in rural districts of Madhya Pradesh: 45 birds have died in the last 5 days due to avian influenza N5H8 in Indore division
Although chicken shops have opened in rural areas including the city, 45 birds have died in the last 5 days due to avian influenza N5H8, i.e. bird flu.
There has been a decrease in the number of dead in the city, but birds in rural areas continue to die and often go unreported, as villagers are burying them in fields.
To increase the immunity of birds, antibiotics are being added to the ‘sakore’ kept at various places in rural areas including the city.
Deputy director of veterinary department Dr Pramod Sharma said “The death toll of birds has decreased in two days.” However, birds in rural areas are often found dead.
“Public has become aware about the dead birds, they inform the department wherever dead birds are found or at least burry them,” Sharma said.
In the Hatod region, 9 birds died recently. In Depalpur, about 9 to 10 birds have been reported dead recently, as well.
Apart from the city now medicines are being mixed after the death of birds in Mhow, Betma and Daly College area to control the spread of bird flu.
