DEO, JD, school principal & teachers have to meet targets now, else face consequences in Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education
District education officers (DEO), joint directors (JD), school principals and teachers have to now ensure good results in board examination and meet the required targets set by Madhya Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE). This is the first time that targets have been set for government schools.
The decision has been taken prior to this academic sessions’ board examinations for class 10th and class 12th.
The examinations are set to begin in April 2021. The decision is likely to be enforced from this academic year.
Why targets for schools?
Last year, the results of 10th and 12th board exams were average.
A large number of children in science and maths performance in class 10th and class 12th board exams were disappointing. The same overall results were also averaged.
Since then, state government and school education department was striving to improve education and results.
This has been the story for a couple of years.
To improve results, school education department announced new targets for class 10th and class 12th board exams.
Commissioner of school education Jaishree Kiyawat issued instructions regarding the same to JD and DEO.
Actions against those who fail to meet targets
Handing over the same responsibility to the district officers, Kiyawat said that disciplinary action can be taken along with stopping the increment of principal, including school teachers, if the target is not met.
Responsibilities set
Not only this, the responsibility of officers has also been fixed. According to this, the JD, DEO, teachers, in collaboration with the students, will review the school and the goals and results.
At the same time, the DEO will monitor all schools according to the subject-wise and class-wise format. School principal will set the target in terms of average for teachers.
Strict actions if targets are missed by 11 percent or over
If targets is not met by 10 percent, then no action will be taken against school principal or teacher.
However, if target is missed by 11 percent to 20 percent then, one increment of teachers and principal will be stopped for giving.
Further, if target is missed by 21 percent to 40 percent, then two increments will be stopped.
In case, target is missed by 40 percent, then departmental inquiry and disciplinary action will be taken.
JDs, principals and teachers who complete the target within the same time frame will be honoured.
