Four-day Akhand Kirtan Samagam in Indore, Madhya Pradesh to celebrate establishment of International Akhand Kirtani Jatha in 1903 by Bhai Randhir Singh
Four-day Akhand Kirtan Samagam will be organised from January 23 to January 26, 2021 in Indore to celebrating the establishment of International Akhand Kirtani Jatha.
The Jatha (group) was started in the late 1800s, when Mata Gulab Kaur, a spiritually enlightened Gursikh woman asked Bhai Randhir Singh to re-invigorate the Khalsa Panth with Kirtan. Further, International Akhand Kirtani Jatha was established in 1904 by Singh.
Community spokesperson Devender Singh Gandhi said, “In the samagam, 3 Kirtan Diwan and a special Kirtan Diwan will be organized at Gurdwara Imli Saheb, which is the most ancient Gurudwara where even Guru Nanak visited.”
Kirtans by children is main attraction of the congregation
Kavaljit Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Karamveer Singh, Ishmeet Singh, Kulathar Singh, Amandeep Singh, Dilraj Singh, and Jaskeerat Singh from organising committee said, “The special attraction of Samagam this year is participation of children and their engagement in the program.”
Children will organise and participate in various kirtans during the four-day event. Sardar Jasbir Singh Gandhi and Sardar Inderjit Singh Hora appealed to community members attend the celebrations but also ensure that corona protocols are diligently followed.
Ratinder Singh, chief convener of Akhand Kirtan Jathe, quoted the protocols and noted that wearing masks will be mandatory.
Schedule of 4-day samagam
The first Kirtan Diwan will take place from 7 pm to 9 pm on 23 January 2021 at Gurudwara Imli Sahib.
On January 24, Diwan will be prepared at Gurdwara Guru Harikishan Sahib (Sant Nagar) from 9 am to 11:30 am.
The third Diwan will be prepared at Gurdwara Kartar Kirtan Saheb, Rajmohalla from 7 pm to 9 pm on January 25.
The concluding special Diwan will be prepared on January 26 from 8 pm to 1 am in Gurdwara Imli Saheb.
