Indore: Second round of corona vaccination, 84.6% of selected corona warriors vaccinated up from 75% in first round
After the success of first round of corona vaccine shot, higher number of corona warriors plunged to hospitals with excitement and positivity to get vaccinated on Monday. During the first round of corona vaccine shot on Saturday, 122 selected healthcare personnels and doctors had not turned up.
On Monday i.e. second round of vaccination drive, the number of people not turning up for vaccination came down by 44 to 78. As per the report released by health department, one female selected healthcare worker did not turn up as she is pregnant.
Three females did not turn up as they were travelling and out of station on the day. About 17 did not turn up giving reasons of being unwell or allergic.
Two selected warriors had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 4 to 8 weeks, hence, could not receive vaccination. From the selected, 6 people refused to sign up and take the vaccination in the second round.
The largest group, i.e. 49 people did not pick up the call or respond to the message of selection for vaccination at all.
These vaccines are being administered at 5 centres in the city. The campaign for first round of vaccination will continue for the next 15-20 days.
Vaccination to continue this week
Vaccination drive for the first round will continue this week. As per the schedule of vaccination drive, the next round of healthcare workers will be vaccinated on Jan 20 (Wednesday), Jan 21 (Thursday), and Jan 23 (Saturday) this week.
Health workers are being vaccinated as front warriors in the first phase.
Mop-up rounds to cover leftover corona warriors
Healthcare workers who are not able to get vaccinated on the selected day will receive vaccination in mop-up rounds.
On Saturday only 75% people were vaccinated i.e. 25% people did not come to Indore on the first day of vaccine vaccination. On Monday, 84.6% were vaccinated, i.e. 15.4% did not turn up for vaccination.
In all, 199 people collectively from round 1 and round 2 of vaccination drive will be covered in mop-up round as of now.
State Nodal Officer Covid-19 Vaccine Dr Santosh Shukla said that there will be a mop-up round in the last week of the month for the vaccinations of the employees who have missed out.
“There is no exclusion for those who could not turn for vaccination at the prescribed time, so a list of employees has been sent to all major hospitals,” he said. He added that out of the list of 150 employees, hospitals had to send the final names of 100 people.
This procedure will be adopted every time.
Second dosage drive to begin from Feb 13
After this, the second dose of vaccination campaign will start from February 13, i.e. 28 days after the first dose of vaccination.
To receive the second batch of vaccines, the cargo centre has been started at Indore airport. There is also an option to use its cold storage, where the temperature can be maintained from 2 to 8 degree Celsius.
