CBSE: Students can change exam centres, but remember offline exams will be conducted for practical & theory in India & abroad

In a first, Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE is giving the students an option to change their examination centre/ city for the upcoming CBSE 10th 12th Board Exams 2021. In a notice released by the board, CBSE has permitted the students to request for a change in the exam centre – either for practical exams or theory or both.

Despite the initial confusion among parents as coronavirus second wave spikes cases in Indore, Indore Sahodaya complex of CBSE schools has clarified that as per board instructions, both practical and theoretical examinations of board will be conducted in offline mode at various exam centres.

With the pandemic, many students of classes 10 and 12 have shifted along with their families to some other city or country. The board notes that in this circumstance, it is difficult for students to appear for the practical or theory examination from the school or examination centre the students is enrolled or allotted – respectively.

All students who have moved to another city and do not wish to travel back to the city to appear for an exam can and should take advantage of the same.

How to apply for change in CBSE Board Exam Centre?

All students, who have been issued roll number for the CBSE Board Examination 2021 can request for the change. To do so, they mush request their respective school to change the theory exam centre or practical exam centre. Students may request for a change in either or both the exam centres. Also, students have to provide the city and state they would prefer to appear in the examination from.

Once the request is made, schools would be given the option to login to their CBSE website and forward the request. The notice reads, ‘choice of city from where student wishes to appear in the examination should be submitted carefully as no change will be allowed once request is submitted by the school.’

No separate centres for theory & practical allowed

It is important to note that in case change for both theory and practical examination is made, the centre would be changed to only once city. In other words, two separate centres – one for theory and other for practical would not be allowed.

Also, in case of exam centre change for practical, the marks of the students would then be uploaded as per the instructions by the school or examination entre from where student takes his practical exam.

Increased shifts for practical exams

In another notice, CBSE has also permitted schools to conduct the practical examinations in 3 shits per day instead of 2. This has been done keeping in view that some schools might have a larger number of students which would not be easy to accommodate in 2 shifts. Other guidelines regarding practical exams remain the same.
