Predicted in comics, virtual education took over in India with an increase in market by 128 million due to covid-19

The time when we read comics during our leisure hours was also a time when some creative cartoonists and writers could imagine a world when not just home-schooling but virtual education would be the usual norm.

The concept when students didn’t worry about dressing up or even bathing before the class came rather quickly as lockdown was enforced and online education was the only way out for schooling.

Online education in India has come a long way with the development of technology. India is one of the nations that is developing at an exponential rate in terms of technology.

With the population of more than 1.3 billion, the availability of high-speed internet and smart-phones, India has the most number of technologically driven persons.

The Indian government is also allowing the universities to offer fully online degrees - a change that could reshape the education industry in the country.

While education sector adopted to the new normal, many students residing in other cities preparing for entrance examinations faced a tough task to get home. After coordination by coaching owners and administration, the students from Kota were brought back to Indore and thousands from Indore went sent back to their homes.

The Indian Online Education Market is forecast to be worth S$ 8.6 Billion by 2026, as per a report titled ‘India Online Education Market, by Segments (Primary and Secondary Supplement, Test preparation, Reskilling and online certifications, Language and Casual Learning), Company Analysis’.

It added that easy availability of the internet is the primary reason for the growth of online education in India. “Between 2019 and 2020 the number of internet users in India increased by 128 million, and for the first time, rural India has more number of internet users compared to urban India,” the report said.
