Indore forest department negligence: No water arrangements for wild animals including national bird Peacock since 2020! Waiting for animals to die of dehydration?
With scorching heat, dried up lakes and ponds, summers are a tough time for wildlife survival. Despite this, forest department has ignored its prime responsibility to provide water for animals in forest and instead enjoying lazy days of summers chilling at home.
Forest Department forgot its basic duty of caring for wildlife and ensuring survival of forests.
The department failed in making any arrangements for wildlife including basic water ponds.
Every year the budget for arranging facilities for wildlife in forest is received from the state department. Under this, water and sometimes necessary feed is arranged in scorching summer for the wildlife.
This is done on every range level and with involvement of villagers and committees, the water source is made by making water sources, but since the last year the department has been forgetting that the wildlife is in need of water as much as human beings, when discussing this subject with the responsible officer.
The reason for not getting the budget is no officials have sent the request for the same, claimed legal activist Abhijeet Pandey in a written complaint to forest department.
State forest department has already directed all divisions to make this water system and later request for a budget allotment for the same.
Citing lack of budget is ultimate excuse for forest officials, now it is questionable that forest department could not manage to provide water for 3 months to wildlife from the existing funds?
On the other side, according to humanity, many forest guards and workers can make this arrangement by getting the help of the villagers to make pits for water.
“If forest department wanted to make water arrangement, then they would take this subject seriously. They could have demanded the budget, according to the information received. It has also been known that the budget is not being released by the Department for the national bird peacock water of the country. It seems that the former DFO Dr Kiran Bisen has too many skeletons in her closet.”

In case, animals are reported dead due to dehydration in a forest, then action will be taking to investigate and further, punish the required officials on ignorance of wildlife. It is an obvious duty and humanity to provide water to wild animals.”
