11 years too soon… Daly College Indore is celebrating its 150th year, claiming this Old Dalian (OD) have filed a petition as they find such a move a threat to the reputation of the institute.
Addressing a media conference at Amar Vilas on Thursday, three ODs including Maharaj Hemendra Singh Panwar of Dhar, Sunil Bajaj and Deepak Kasliwal quoted that the institute as per postage stamp completed 125 years in 2007, then how can it complete 150 in 2021?!
Panwar, who has been associated with Daly College for generations, said , “Daly College is for us an institution that strengthens moral values apart from academics. In such a situation, questioning about any irregularity happening here becomes not only my right but also my responsibility.”
He added that celebrations of completion of 150 years should be celebrated when 150 years are completed, but here preparations have been made to celebrate the celebrations much before that.
“In 2007, a postage stamp was issued by the Central Government to commemorate 125 years of DC,” Pandwar said. He cited this as evidence of the true age of the institute.
“Apart from this, as per the CBSE norms, no two people from the same family can be members of the same society at the same time, whereas Narendra Singh Jhabua and his son Jai Singh Jhabua are both members together in DC,” Panwar said.
He added that this is not only against the rules but also illegal because the CGM (Chief Justice Magistrate) provides affidavit for the same.
Against this celebration of 150th birth anniversary, Bajaj and Kasliwal filed a petition (CNR No. MP 09010280692021) for grant of stay order in the court on 29 July 2021 and advocated the matter. The next hearing on the matter is on July 30,2021.
