In BJP’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra, a horse was painted and used to promote the party in Indore, which irked animal activists and a complaint against the use of horse was registered.

People for Animals Indore Unit representative filed a complaint to the Indore police against the painting of horse and its use in the yatra. The representative Priyanshu Jain filed a complaint at Indore's Sanyogitaganj police station, seeking an FIR under The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

“We will report the matter to the Election Commission,” Jain said, representing the NGO led by BJP MP Maneka Gandhi.

Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ passed through all six Assembly seats in Indore city before it culminates at Khajrana Temple on Thursday. As per the complaint, ex-municipal corporator Ramdas Garg brought the horse on rent. The horse was painted in BJP colours before being brought to the yatra.

Tinted with orange and green forming the BJP flag colours, the horse was a major attraction in the yatra. Not just colours, the horse also had a lotus design on its back forming the party symbol.

However, no FIR has been registered as yet.
