Ganpati Bappa will soon bid adieu leaving his devotees with blessings and presents on Sunday, September 19, 2021.
After the 10-day long festivity of Ganeshotsav which began this year on September 10, devotees with say goodbye to lord Ganesha with tears in their prayers “Agle Baras Tu Jaldi Aa” (come soon next year).
With his departure, the 10-day long Ganeshotsav festival will culminate. Ananta Chaturdashi signifies the fourteenth day of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada.
Considering environmental hazards, most Indoreans opted to bring eco-friendly lord Ganesha idol. Hence, many will immerse the idol at home.
This day is also important for Lord Vishnu followers as he is worshipped in his 'Ananta' avatar. Devotees of Lord Vishnu will observe a day-long fast and also tie the sacred thread, known as Anant Sutra during special puja. After performing Lord Vishnu's puja, 14-knots of Anant Sutra are tied to the hand.
Paryushana concluding
Ananta Chaturdashi also holds significance for the Jain community. Also known as Anant Chaudas, it is the last day of the 10-days long Paryushana event which they observe in this month. Kshamavani, the day they seek forgiveness is observed one day after Anant Chaturdashi. It is said that this is the day when Lord Vasupriya—the 12th Tirthankara attained Nirvana.
Immersion arrangements
Like every year, this year also the Municipal Corporation will collect Ganesh idols for immersion at different places in 85 wards. Apart from the 19 zonal offices of the corporation, Ganesh idols will also be collected around the ponds. On September 20, the collected idols will be immersed at Jawahar Tekri.
Artifical pools have been made by the Municipal Corporation at various places for the immersion of Ganesh idols made of clay and soil. Here, the citizens can immerse the idols.
The idols made of plaster of paris will be immersed in the rain water stored in Jawahar Tekri.
Devotees must keep the worship material (garlands, clothes, fruits, flowers, coconut and leaves etc.) of Ganesh idols in a separate basket for environment and water safety.
