Catholic Church entered its new year of worship by lighting Purple Candle of Hope on the First Sunday of Advent
First Sunday of Advent was celebrated by lighting the Purple colour candle symbolising Hope
Starting Sunday, the Catholic Church entered its new year of worship, as they prepare for the birthday of the Lord Jesus Christ. The community celebrated the First Sunday of Advent by lighting the Purple colour candle. Every Sunday of Advent lights a special candle.
The first candle is known as the Prophet's candle symbolizing hope.
“This preparation has to be done on all the four levels – physical, physical, mental and spiritual,” Father CB Joseph said, in his speech at Red Church.
He added that in the last two years, especially during the Corona period, everyone has faced many hardships.
“We lost a lot of wonderful people and there are many kinds of troubles, problems, troubles keep coming in life. But God also solves all these troubles for us,” Fr Joseph said.
He explained that the purple candle teaches people to live life with hope. “One of the topics of today's preparation is love. We have to love each other, forgive each other's mistake,” Fr Joseph said.
He added that in this preparation people have to stay awake. “We have to be alert. We have to follow the rules. The biggest thing we have to do is to pray continuously,” Fr Joseph said.
He added that along with physical preparation such as the decoration of homes, everyone must remember and take care of health of family members.
“It is more important that we prepare ourselves spiritually by making our soul clean and pure,” Fr Joseph said.
He added that along with this, everyone must work to help the underprivileged in society.
“Just as the prophets hoped that the Lord Jesus Christ would be born, we have to prepare with the same hope that God will remove our sufferings through His birth. I pray to God to keep every resident of Indore healthy,” Fr Joseph concluded his speech.
