The School Education Department has not been able to collect the information of about 20 thousand teachers of government schools in the state. Last year there were about 16 thousand such teachers. This year the number has increased by four thousand.
In 2020, the department could not find 16,215 teachers. Even after a year, the education portal of the department has not been updated yet. This can be checked on the official education portal.
Last year, a letter was also issued by the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) to the Joint Directors.
Despite this, the department has not been able to find about the teachers so far.
In the session 2018-19, the department had 3,20,440 teachers registered on the portal.
At the same time, the number of teachers registered in 2019-20 on the portal was 3,04,225.
In the session 2020-21, the number of teachers increased slightly. This year, i.e. 2021-22, also the number of teachers is less than last year. If compared, it is down by four thousand. Due to the disappearance of so many teachers from the portal, the department is unable to find out whether they are doing the teaching work properly or not.
The District Education Officers of all the districts have been instructed to update the portal again.
DEO Ashok Nagar district issued show cause notices to the teachers who have been absent continuously for a long time without any notice since 2010.
The same is the case with DEO Indore and DEO Bhopal.
Teachers missing possibly because…
Most teachers whose information is missing have been selected in other government examinations including MPPSC. Some teachers died especially due to covid-19. Some teachers are on deputation in other department. The department has not updated the number of teachers on the portal for many years.
Online information of teachers failing
The information of every teacher was to be uploaded on the education portal, but the information of regular teachers is being uploaded through IFMS (Integrated Financial Management Information System) portal of MP.
However, IFMS portal of the teachers who have joined the education cadre is not opening.
Due to this, the information of about 20 thousand teachers of the state is not registered on the portal.
Also, the employee codes of many teachers have not been generated. For this reason also it is not being registered on the portal.
Surplus teachers increased in urban areas
Due to non-updation of teachers' information on the portal, teachers have come to urban areas by transfer from rural areas. Due to this the number of surplus teachers in urban areas has increased.
There are about six thousand surplus teachers in the state, who have not been posted yet.
DEOs demand sanctioning
DEOs have demanded to sanction teachers for the posts. For the sanctioning of posts, teachers’ information must be approved and updated on the department portal.
Due to non-approval of posts of so many teachers on the portal, the district treasury has not been able to pay their salaries online.
