First in the country, a chair dedicated to the country's first chief of Defence staff General Bipin Rawat was launched on Tuesday. The chair has been launched at Dr BR Ambedkar University of Social Science, Mhow in an event organised in association with Free Press.
Vice chancellor of university Asha Shukla said, “The entire country and all of us are grieving the loss of Rawat, who was not only our first chief of Defence but an inspirational role model.” Hence, we must not only grief but find a way to remember and learn from his life.
She added that this chair is being launched to inspire every Indian to become a focused leader whose only aim is the benefit of the nation.
As announced, many activities with army officials will be organised under the chair. Furthermore, Army War College and activities of the research centre will go hand in hand, added Shukla. “It will be helpful to army personnel coming here and students as well,” she said.
She added that the university will make it an active platform.
Lieutenant General VS Sreenivas, Commandant, Army War College, said, “Rawat was a leader who led from the front and always put nation first. With such a persona and an ideal leader, it is a great step to set benchmarks for our future generations.”
Lieutenant General (Retd) Dushyant Singh, ex-commandant, AWC, said, “The right tribute would be to take his actions and ideology forward. This is a first step towards that. I hope that the departments and participants here will take it forward as we have all departments in Defense as well. This chair will help in a focused step.”
