Malwa Utsav celebrating the culture of the state was inaugurated at Lal Bagh Palace on Saturday with tribal dances and fun-filled art workshops.
The festival is dedicated to celebrations of tribes of MP and organised under the Amrit Mahotsav of India’s Independence.
In this festival is being organised for 6-days from December 25 to December 31 by Indore Municipal Corporation and Sanskriti Sanchanalaya Madhya Pradesh.
Shankar Lalwani, the convener of Lok Sanskriti Manch, said, “On the first day of the festival, Lambardi was performed by talented performers.” Lambardi is a famous dance of Telangana, which is performed by Banjara tribe in joy after harvesting.
The stage was built as a replica of Ram temple of Orchha. Girls performed the dance dressed in traditional colours opted by the tribe including blue, green and yellow dresses. Further, heavy tribal jewellery was worn by performers.
To give it the local music flavour, the instrumental artists played dappu instruments. The tribal group had come from Mathura in the Adilabad region of Telangana.
Nitin Tapadiya from organising committee shared that on December 26, the craft market will start from 12:00 noon and the art workshop will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Lalbagh Palace.
