Girls coming from scheduled caste and scheduled tribes and studying in Sri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) will now get six week training at Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Co Ltd (MPUDC). The initiative taken up by training and placement (T & P) department of the institute was finalised with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two on Friday.
SGSITS entered into a MOU with the MPUDC department of the state government for employment upgradation.
“It will provide onsite 6 weeks training to all the SC/ST girl students of the institute conducted in 13 PIUs of Madhya Pradesh along with 10,000/- as stipend of the above training,” Dr Nitin Sapre, dean of T & P department, said.
He added that MoU was signed to facilitate internships for final year female students pursuing regular degree courses such as Engineering, Journalism, Architecture, Environment, Archeology, Social Science, Law and Urban Planning only.
The following details about the terms of MoU were shared by Dr Sapre and T & P coordinator (civil) Vivek Tiwari about the MoU:
o The internship program is introduced for college level women in order to gain hands-on professional experience in urban development.
o To expose and sensitize brilliant young women minds to the working of MPUDCL at the Policy and implementation at both PMU and PIU level.
o To provide opportunities for young and budding women professionals and researchers to apply themselves to real time design implementation and evaluation of projects, programmes and schemes through the work presently undertaken by MPUDCL.
o To allow the women interns within the ambit of the work assigned to them, to come up with workable solutions which help further the cause of work undertaken by MPUDCL at the field level.
o To increase women’s interest in municipal affairs and to increase their participation in decision-making processes.
o The program will provide women an opportunity to gain technical skills through a leading infrastructure program.
o To attract, nature and harness the young women intellectual capital for the cause of strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems in MPUDCL through various field level activities.
o To familiarize the young minds with the overall process of Development of the State along with hiring their services for short-term researches connected with analysis of development policies, projects, schemes etc.
Making technical education Industry ready
• The MPUDCL will give valuable inputs to the Second Party in field training methodology so that the intern fit into the Technical Skills of Urban Infrastructure Program, urban development including water supply and sanitation, also issues pertaining to environmental and social safeguards.
• The interaction between PIU and Institution will give an insight into the latest developments/requirements of the field, The MPUDCL to permit the Faculty and Students of the Second Party to visit its Field and also involve in Field Training Program for the Second Party. The Field Training and exposure provided to the intern through this association will build confidence and prepare the students to have a smooth transition from academic to working career. The MPUDCL will provide its Field Lab/Sites for the hands-on-training to the learners enrolled with the Second Party.
• The MPUDCL will train the students of the Second Party on the emerging technologies in order to bridge the gap in skill and make them ready for the Field.
