Laurels International School organised a seminar on ‘Kid’s in New Era’ with lifestyle coach and cardiologist Dr Bharat Rawat on Thursday.
Discussing the current lifestyle changes and ways to stay healthy, Dr Rawat addressed the gathering of students. “In India, around 250 million students were affected due to school closures at the onset of lockdown induced by COVID-19 and this change has affected their mental and physical health,” he said.
He added that the pandemic posed several challenges in public and private schools which included an expected rise in dropouts, learning losses, and increase in digital divide.
“With students spending most of their time online, students are struggling to become healthy adults now,” Dr Rawat said.
School principal Bhawana Pujari said, “We can see the difference in students now after online school for so long. We want to help students now and bring them back to fit and happy lifestyle.”
Vice principal Thara Nair said, “It’s essential to work on overall development of students and hence, this event was organised with the help of Create Stories Social Welfare Society that provided us guidance.”
Tips for Better Health shared by Dr Rawat
1. Ensure early dinner
2. Avoid screen after 10
3. Get up by 6 am
4. Eat homemade food
5. Exercise 30-40 min a day
6. Learn yoga/ pranayama
7. Read some inspiring book.
8. Pray regularly
