General Bipin Rawat was a general of the India army that was appointed the first CD (Chief of Defence) of India. Gen Rawat was born on 16 March 1958 at Pauri Garhwal, district Uttrakhand
He spent 10 years in counter urgency operation, also known as surgical strikes. He served in various majors to current CDS.
While in the post of majors, Gen Rawat commanded a company in URI, Jammu and Kashmir.
He was also the 5th and final Chairman of the heads of state committee Major of the Indian Army. Gen Rawat has received many medals and honors for distinguished service like
1) Param Vishisht Seva medals
2) Uttam Yadh Seva Medal
3) Ati Vishisht Seva Medal… many more...
He was in the IAF MI 175 V5 helicopter which crashed near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.
Rawat was 63 at the time of his death. His wife were cremated according to Hindu rituals with full military honours and 17 gun salute at Brar square crematorium in Delhi cantonment on 10 December 2021.
