After the leopard attack in Dudhi Bawdi and Gajinda, most villagers in the surrounding areas of Indore are scared of possible attacks. While the forest department does justify that those huts where attacks happened were encroaching forest areas, there is also a chance that leopards are running out of prey. Hence, human-animal conflict is expected.
The forest department has issued a warning to villagers to be careful and beware of leopards in the circle. The leopard hunted cattle in the village in the wee hours of Friday.
After this, there was panic in the village citing movement of leopard. The panic spread to the villages adjoining the forest areas.
Throughout the night, the villagers kept a watch around their homes with torches and sticks. Five to six villagers were keeping an eye on the leopard's movements by forming groups. It was planned so that the leopard does not attack anyone.
After about two hours the forest workers reached the villages to inspect the movement of the leopard.
The incident has come to the fore in Sendal of Choral range and Chainpura village of Barwah range. Leopard hunted a cattle in Sendal village at 6 pm.
Later, after grabbing the hunt in jaw, the leopard dragged the cattle. Some villagers saw this.
After which, an alarm was raised in the village. According to the villager, seeing the cattle being taken away, it seemed that the leopard had attacked again, so the villagers screamed and hooted.
Afraid of the noise, the leopard ran away leaving the hunt behind.
Then the villagers got upset due to the movement of leopard in Chainpura village coming under Barwah range. The process of informing the forest workers started from 7 o'clock in the evening. Two forest workers from Badwah range in Chainpura reached at 9:45 pm.
After persuading the villagers, he returned and said that do not sleep outside the houses. Despite this, the villagers kept searching for the leopard as a herd. The villagers informed the NGO director Rohitaswa Pandey about the development. They say that till 12 o'clock in the night, “I informed the forest officers about the incident on WhatsApp.”
He informed the villagers to not harm the leopard.
