Thanks to this ignorance, more than 3,000 students could not even get admitted into the schools under Right to Education (RTE).
If further, the DEO officer continues to take it slow, then these 10,000 students will not able to attend board examinations of Class 5 and Class 8. This would mean a year’s gap for these students with no fault of their own.
Association of Madhya Pradesh Unaided Private Schools has approached the officer and several school education authorities, but all efforts were futile.
When Free Press contacted DEO Manglesh Vyas, he said, “Everything is a lie. There is no approval from collector and plus, government processes work like government and it takes time.”
More than 90 schools in doldrums
The trauma for schools has multiplied as it is required for schools to register students of Class 5 and Class 8 for board examinations. As per the instructions of state school education department, all the schools must complete the registration process by November 16.
However, in a situation, where they are still just waiting for the process of recognition to move ahead from DEO office, school heads are helpless.
DEO had made a ‘mistake’ before
In 2020, recognition of 450 schools was revoked and hence, the members approached the department to demand a change in the process of recognition to Indore, saving them from the pain of repeated travel to Bhopal for the same.
Again in 2021, district school education officer revoked recognition of 292 schools ‘by mistake’. School association had later cited the mistake at the end of DEO in filling of form and approached state education office.
Further, finding the schools’ appeal legitimate, portal was specially unlocked for Indore. The portal is still open only for Indore. Further, as per association, the collector had ordered DEO officer to complete the process at their end. Out of 292, more than 200 schools were granted recognition as they could ‘fine tune’ things with DEO.
However, the remaining 90 schools are in doldrums still...
Recurring issues... pending centralisation of process
Following the complaint from Madhya Pradesh Board Private School Association, Indore, Madhya Pradesh school education minister Inder Singh Parmar had earlier announced that the school recognition process will be made more centralized. The power of revoking recognition has been revoked of district education offices.
However, school heads in Indore need not visit Bhopal for revisions and shortcomings in application.
Joint director of education in Indore will just coordinate and forward the applications. JD‘s power to revoke the recognition was revoked by the minister.
