Providing paperless bills to customers on phones and accepting online payments bumps up the payments as Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company (West Discom) records highest bill payments in state, i.e. two hundred crore in October from Indore city.
Consumers have deposited more than two hundred crores for in October in Indore city. This was the highest in the state to be submitted for settlement of bills to Discom.
This increase is credited to online payments as more than 70 per cent customers paid through various cashless payment methods.
In Malwa-Nimar, maximum electricity was used in Indore city, and hence, the highest amount was received from the city.
In October, five lakh consumers have deposited more than two hundred crores in Indore city.
About 3.5 lakh consumers have made cashless payment through credit cards, debit cards, Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, Amazon, MP Online etc. They have also been given exemption on every bill as per the regulatory commission.
After the paperless bill process, there was no change. However, after delivering paperless bills to phone numbers five lakh consumers in Indore city deposited the bill amount in October 2022.
The department also received the amount on an average two days in advance.
Some customers there are elderly consumers, who do not use mobiles, they can pay the bill through door to door app. Most of such consumers are under the purview of Gruha Jyoti Yojana, whose bills range from Rs 100 to 300 per month.
