World Environment Day Celebrations: Umrikheda Amusement Park to open for tourists in July, officially introduced & inaugurated
Umrikheda Amusement Park on the Dhar-Khandwa Road was introduced on Monday as a part of celebrations for Environment Day. Forest Department is all set to open the gates for tourists from July, after the inaugural of park on Monday.
Tourists have been waiting for the whole year for the opening of Umrikheda Amusement Park spread over 190 hectares. Umrikheda forest area is just 15 km away from Indore.
Before the monsoon, the forest department has given permission to many adventure groups for campfire. Even arrangements have been made to stay in the mud house.
Forest Minister Vijay Shah said, “No hostel or restaurant will be built at the forest place, but old construction will be fixed in the area.” He added that the rest house of the Forest Department has been renovated. “For food requirements, visitors can eat at the cafeteria in the rest house,” Shah said.
The main gate is built on the lines of Ralamandal Sanctuary in Umrikheda. There will also be a ticket office for tourists to get in the park. DFO Narendra Pandwa said, “Mud house and tent facilities will be available for tourists from July, but rates are yet to be decided.” After determining the trend and interest of tourists at Umrikheda, a Jungle Safari might be arranged with Gypsies.
Cycle Rally to reduce use of Plastic
Celebrating World Environment Day, a cycle rally followed by a plantation drive was organised under Mission Life at Forest Zone Office Complex, Choral. All the forest employees took out a cycle rally from Choral to Gwalu raising awareness about ill-effects of plastic for environment. They encouraged citizens to reduce the use of polythene and maintain cleanliness by cleaning public places. The program was done under the leadership of Range Officer Sachin Verma and Deputy Forest Officer Devkaran Kadam.
