Two arrested for killing three Nilgai
Two poachers from Khargone were arrested by the forest department and sent to jail on the orders of district court for brutal killing of three Nilgai or blue cows on Wednesday. The axe used for hunting was also recovered from the accused —Santosh Sisodiya and Eesharam.
Sisodiya, son of Bahadur, is 30 years old. Eesharam, son of Chanchiya, is 35 years old. Following the information of the carcass found in Dewas, Both residents of Khargone were found and arrested for killing three nilgai.
“The accused had chopped down the legs of the nilgai and took out all the organs from the poor animal,” divisional forest officer (Dfo) Mahendra Singh Solanki said.
“The accused had first targeted the youngest female nilgai, who was just 2 years old,” Solanki said. Further, they went on to attack another nilgai, a female, who was 4 years old.
“Not satisfied by the greed, they attacked a third nilgai, a 5-year-old male,” Solanki said.
The animals were brutally cut and chopped down, during which they succumbed to death.
Based on the information received from a source, the forest team nabbed the duo along with their axe on Wednesday morning. “They admitted to the crime and were taken to court,” Solanki said.
Based on the judgment of the court, both the accused went sent to jail.

The leopard family in the Super Corridor area continues to play hide-n-seek with forest department officials. Rescue team including Indore Forest Division DFO Mahendra Singh Solanki searched throughout the night.
Forest department team searched for leopards in the Gandhi Nagar area using thermal drones.
Further, the team installed cages at a total of 5 places in Nainod, Samarth Park, Dilip Nagar, TCS, and Infosys.
“We have installed more than 10 trap cameras to find the leopards and get them back to their habitat,” Solanki said.
