40 day Lent fasting begins with celebrations of Ash Wednesday

Catholic Church of the world, the Catholic society of Indore celebrated Ash Wednesday on Wednesday and started the forty-day fasting of Lent season. Holy Mass was offered at 6:30 am in all the major Catholic churches of Indore city. In which the priest marked the sign of the cross with ashes on the forehead of the devotees and reminded them that "Man, you are dust and will return to dust."
Fr Anthony Swamy, Fr Thomas Mathew, Fr Simon Raj, Fr Sumit Tahir, and Fr Mahesh Sulya offered Holy Mass at Red Church.
Fr Swamy said - "With Ash Wednesday, the forty days of fasting i.e. the period of Lent has started. In these forty days, there is a lot of relaxation for the body, mind and soul.
He added that through charity everyone must mend broken relationships. “If someone is angry with us we have to ask for forgiveness, and if we are angry with someone we have to forgive him,” Fr Swamy said.
He added that it is time when people can change ourselves and fix broken relationships. “These forty days of Lent teach us love, kindness and forgiveness,” Fr Swamy said.
The coming Friday will be the first Friday of Lent and on this day the Holy Way of the Cross will be worshiped in all the churches of Indore at 06:30 pm. Good Friday (Holy Friday) will be celebrated on March 29.
