Breaking records, Girls top JEE Main 2024
For the first time in history, a girl bagged the title of Indore city topper in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. The inspirational girl is Shrestha Goyal with AIR 167 with 99.99%. Shrestha, though not officially announced by NTA, has also scored highest marks among girls in JEE Main 2024 and hence is girls topper in state. Second highest rank in the city was earned by Rishit Mittal. His rank is 226.
Third place was also bagged by a girl named Riddhi Motwani, who scored 99.9859% and was ranked 326 in All India Ranking (AIR) of the examination.
The combined result of two JEE Main conducted in 2024 were released on Thursday. For Academic Session 2024-25, NTA conducted the JEE (Main) – 2024 in two Sessions i.e. Session 1 (January 2024) and Session 2 (April 2024).
This year, JEE (Main) – 2024 Session 2 was conducted at 571 unique examination centres in 319 cities including 22 cities outside India.
This year 14 lakh 15 thousand 110 students appeared in both the sessions together whereas last year 11 lakh 12 thousand students had appeared for the examination, as shared by JEE mentor Kamal Sharma. He added that this is almost three lakh students appeared for the entrance examination as compared to last year.
“This number is the highest in the records of NTA in JEE-Main,” Sharma said.
Out of total aspirants, now 2.5 lakh students have qualified on the basis of JEE-Main for JEE advanced examination. Out of this 2.5 lakh, 1 lakh 1 thousand 324 students from General category, 25029 from EWS, 67570 from OBC, 37581 from SC and 18780 from ST qualified.
In 7 decimal place, the percentile cutoff of General category was 93.2362181, EWS was 81.3266412, OBC was 79.6757881, SC was 60.0923182, ST was 46.6975840.

“I secured 99.99 (100 percentile in Maths) percentile and AIR 162. I chose to study for JEE and become an engineer because of my love for Maths. Maths has been my favourite subject. I started early and began preparation for the examination in 2020 in 4-year program. This helped me balance out my time. I had enough time to work on my weak sections like mechanics in Physics. I often felt stressed and would de-stress by taking a walk with my sister. My parents (Maths teacher Kavita & software developer Alok) supported me and helped me deal with everything. My teachers analysed my mistakes and I could get better in my studies.”

“I am passionate about Mathematics. I wanted to choose something that involves maths more. So, despite the fact both my parents are doctors, I chose Math. I want to become a computer science engineer. If given a choice, I would like to study in IIT Bombay. It's my dream and I am willing to work towards it. My mantra is to chose something you enjoy and like, then work towards your goal. I chose engineering as I like Maths.”

"I was not expecting to be the topper. I knew I would secure a good rank. What worked for me was consistent efforts. I studied almost 10 to 12 hours. I am interested in engineering. I was wondering what to do in class 10 and after research, I decided to study engineering. My dad (Anil) is an engineer by qualification but is a businessman. My mother (Heena) is a homemaker. My role model is Elon Musk. I like how he pursued his passion. I admire his thoughts and way of thinking. I want to do computer science engineering. I enjoy computers."

"I am okay with the rank. I want to study computer science engineering. It's just a wimp. My parents are from Jabalpur. I came to Indore to prepare for the exam. I have been here alone for a year. However, my parents visited me every two months. My dad (Kailash Chand) is a govt officer. My mother (Kamini) is a homemaker. I was very good at Chess till class 10. I had to leave it, as it might not be my career. I competed in a national chess competition in class 8. But I never intended to make it my career. I have an elder sister (IIT Delhi student Himanshi) and a younger brother (Piyush). I have learnt that acing JEE depends on understanding."
